The Rules « Thread Started on May 26, 2008, 1:18am »
I'll start by saying the rules here at Kismet! can all be boiled down to one simple idea-don't be an asshat. Keep that in mind and everything should go smoothly. :3
Unfortunately, this usually isn't enough so lets get specific.
No god-moding, no powerplaying and no auto hits. If you don't understand the concepts, please make your way over to the nearest moderator immediately.
Once one particular fairy tale character has been used (say Princess Brier Rose), no more characters based on them will be permitted, but-naturally-other characters from the story, (the Prince, the Dark Fairy, etc.) will be welcomed. The only exception will be two similarly classed fairy tales (such as Cap O' Rushes and Donkyskin). In this event, extra care will need to be taken to assure us that one character is not going to become the carbon copy of the other.
No chat speak, leet, violently purple prose or horse/wolf style writing. (If you don't recognize the terms, again, please speak with one of the mods.)
Anything above an NC-17 rating needs to be tagged as such in the title. Kismet! is rated NC-17 for language and mild violence, and anything beyond needs to be kept to a minimum. Please remember to fade to black!
We're firm believers in the idea that quantity does not equal quality here. There's no word minimum or maximum, but we do expect good quality posts, with enough detail for others to respond to.
Be polite and curtious out of character, and feel free to take disagreements to the mods. Remember that in character actions don't have any bearing on out of character sentiments!
And by the same token, in character actions have in character consequences. Characters caught breaking the law will be sent to prison, etc and so on.
Finally, remember that this is a steampunk/victorian inspired world, full of anachronisms and magic; we may not have top of the line cellphones and iPods, but clockwork computing machines and lighter than air dirigibles wouldn't be out of place.
Master mage status will be an open class on a trial basis, but if we see too many eighteen year old beauty-queen masters this will change. Remember, anyone can have master potential, but you only become a Master after study and trial.
